Following a competitive tender exercise, the Hewitt Fertility Centre is pleased announce that we have been awarded a nationwide contract to provide important services for donor conceived people.
Awarded by the HFEA (Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority), the contract will entrust us with the Donor Conceived Register (DNR), which was created to match and establish links between pre-August 1991 donors and donor-conceived people. This followed the passing of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act in the same month, which for the first time required all IVF treatments, cycles and use of donated eggs and sperm to be recorded in one place.
As soon as the service is established at the Hewitt Fertility Centre, our clinics will provide and manage counselling and DNA testing services to individuals across the UK who were either donors or donor-conceived before 1991. We will do this through our dedicated counselling team and highly trained specialists, who not only deeply understand the sensitive issues involved, but will continue our commitment to providing the best possible service to all of our patients.
Details of how to access this service will be made available shortly. In the meantime, please visit www.donorconceivedregister.org.uk for more information.
